Post 15 : on the NBA

Today we are going to talk about the NBA. Firstly a little bit of history.
The NBA ( National Basketball Association ) was founded in New York in 1946, it is a League composed of 30 teams, 29 in the United States and one in Canada. The League is divided in two sections, we have the East coast and the West coast. Every year the teams confronts each other to get to the playoffs. The playoffs are for the best teams in the NBA, 8 from the East coast and 8 for the West coast.

In each coast, teams are fighting to get to the final. Games can be to 4 until 7.  In others terms, if a team wins 4 games in a row they can go to the next stage. But for example if it is an equality like 3-3 they have to play a game seven also called "win or go home". When a team from the East coast for example, get to the Eastern finals they win a trophy it is the same for the West coast. It means, that they are the best team in rather the East or West coast. But, it is not finished yet. Indeed the best team from the East has to play against the best team form the West coast. It is the "FINALS". The last finals in 2019,  it is the Toronto Raptors an Eastern team who has win it.

But the NBA is also a League where you can watch an All Star Game. Every February people around the world can assist at a big show. The better players are selected by the crowd and they play against each other. Every year until 2018 it was the best players from the East against the best player from the west. But now it is the teams of the two best player of the league. For instance this year it was team Giannis Antetokounmpo against the team LeBron James aka "King James".  That being said the  best players from the west are blended with the best  players from the east. That is because I reckon that every year the west was always winning but now it is more tight.

But there is not only the All Star game there is also an All Star weekend. In the weekend you can
watch on Friday night a tree point contest, so it is the bests shooters from tree point range in the League who confront each other to see who is the best tree point shouter.

On Saturday night you can watch the dunk contest, so it is the same as the three point contest but with Dunks. Dunks are the most spectacular things in the NBA. It is when a player puts directly the ball in the basketball  (panier).

What is the reward for the best player ?
In the NBA, the best player is called the "Most Valuable Player". Firstly, there is the best player from both coasts and, at the end of the regular season (before the playoffs) he gets a reward. We calculate his stats and how he manages to lead his team to the playoffs to give him the reward.

Then there is the reward for the best player from the "FINALS" so the best team from the West against the best team from the East.

To conclude, I chose to talk about the NBA because I played myself basketball and I am a huge fan of Lebron James and the NBA.

Post 14: the consequences of the current health crisis

We are living a crisis. A sanitary crisis which as spread worldwide.
And 204,431  have died of the disease, (the coronavirus known as well as the Covid-19).
Due to this disease a lot of countries are in lockdown.
According to this information, human beings had to change their way of living. They no longer can travel, exit their home. Today we are going to ask ourselves in which way the coronavirus is infecting our lives and manner of living. We are going to see that the coronavirus as an impact on many systems and activities created by human beings like the politics or sports.

The first impact that we are going to talk about is in the economy. If we take the example of a seller, we can noticed that he has known a fall of his clients because in many countries the people are in lockdown, and they can't buy as they were buying formerly the seller's products. So in order to gain money the sellers have decided to increase the price of goods, services and commodities to a level much higher that is considered reasonable or fair. This consequence is called price gouging.
But because we are humain beings we have needs, for instance we need pharmaceuticals supplies and food. And that might be a problem. I explain myself, due to the Covid-19 people are buying a lot of antiseptic gel, paracetamol or any medicine that can treats any sickness. So the world has known a supply shortage of pharmaceuticals.
Otherwise, since the 2008 financial crisis the Covid-19 has been the biggest decline of the stock market. We can justified that with for example firms that no longer produce, so this leads to a decline of commercial trades.

The second impact that we are going to talk about is in the events. Due to the coronavirus all the events such as global conferences, events across technology, fashion and sports have been all cancelled. For instance, the Soccer International European competition has been postponed. Also the JO have been postponed ton next year.

The third impact would be in the political world. But we are going to see that it hasn't only bad consequences.
Firstly, we are going to talk about China. Then the bond between China and Italy and finally USA.
In China, some provincial level administrators of the communist party of China were dismissed due to their bad decisions in the handling of the quarantine efforts in central China. So they are half responsable of the death or the unwealth of the people.
The epicentre of the Covid-19 is in Wuhan in China, so logically it is the country which firstly lived the outbreak. It also means that is the first country which have overcome the disease. Doctors in China are the best to know how to handle the disease, and that being said, they have told the doctors in Italy how to manage to take care of the good wealth of the population.  Even if Italy is a country in which the Covid-19 have stricken the most in Europe they now have more knowledge on how to handle this disease. So I reckon that it is a good consequence in the way China has showed
solidarity. Finally in USA, Donald trump said to his people that the coronavirus will not affect the people in the United States, which is a lie because they have many cases of death or unwealth of the people. Will he be elected again for the next presidential elections?

The fourth impact would be in the education. Schools and Universities have closed. According to UNESCO, on march 25, 165 countries have closed their educational infrastructures, infecting over 1,5 billion students worldwide. This leads to a change of the manner to give classes. Now teachers and students are connected via internet and they communicate like this.

Finally, the fifth impact would be the unemployment. The international Labour Organization predicted  a 6,7 pour cent loss of jobs hours globally in the second quarter of 2020, equivalent to 195 million full time jobs. They also estimated that 30 million job were lost in the first quarter alone, compared to 25 million during the 2008 financial crisis. In march 2020, more than 10 million American lost their jobs and applied for government aid. This leads to a decrease of the economy and also the people who find themselves in this situation are now surviving with the little that the government gives for buying the necessary. Like the food and the pharmaceuticals. But for example in Spain the government doesn't give money for the people without an employment and that being said a lot of people are starving and maybe seek.

To conclude, we, human beings have to change our way of living. We are dependent of the coronavirus And we are living a big crisis that has an impact in our modern society. But when we will overcome this disease will we be able to have more careful with the food we are eating or our hygiene?

Post 13: a message to TL LVA bloggers

chloroquine

Chloroquine is a drug used to treat malaria. It is being explored and tested as a possible treatment for the novel coronavirus. The chemical formula of chloroquine, a synthetic substance, is C18H26ClN3. Chloroquine is sometimes abbreviated as CQ. A derivative of chloroquine is hydroxychloroquine. While malaria is caused by a parasite (transmitted by mosquitoes), chloroquine has proven effective in treating SARS, a disease caused by a coronavirus closely related to the one that causes COVID-19. That’s why chloroquine is being tried out as a treatment for COVID-19.Other drugs being considered for COVID-19 are remdesivir (GS-5734) and lopinavir/ritonavir.

COVID-19

COVID-19 is a highly infectious respiratory disease caused by a new coronavirus. The disease was discovered in China in December 2019 and has since spread around the world.COVID is short for coronavirus disease. The number 19 refers to the fact that the disease was first detected in 2019.The technical name of the virus that causes COVID-19 is severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, abbreviated as SARS-CoV-2.

epidemiology

Epidemiology is the branch of medicine dealing with the incidence and prevalence of disease in large populations and with detection of the source and cause of epidemics of infectious disease. An epidemiologist is a person who studies or is an expert in epidemiology.

immunity

Immunity is the state of being immune from (“protected from a disease”) or insusceptible to a particular disease; the condition that permits either natural or acquired resistance to disease.

isolation

Isolation is the complete separation from others of a person suffering from contagious or infectious disease. In public health, isolation happens when a person is infected with a communicable disease, and is separated from people who are healthy. This helps stop the spread of disease.Self-isolation is voluntary isolation. Note that everyday people may use self-isolation when they aren’t infected and are social distancing.
quarantine
Quarantine is a strict isolation imposed to prevent the spread of disease. In public health, people are placed in quarantine when they are not currently sick, but have been or may have been exposed to a communicable disease. This helps stop the spread of the disease.Self-quarantine is when someone isn’t ordered to go into quarantine but chooses to do so out of caution; also called voluntary quarantine.

respirator

respirator is a masklike device, usually of gauze, worn over the mouth (or nose and mouth) to prevent the inhalation of noxious substances or the like.To help protect them from COVID-19, health professionals wear respirators to filter out virus particles as they breathe in so they don’t get infected and can help patients. For these professionals, the CDC specifically recommends using what are called N95 respirators, which fit more tightly around the nose and mouth than medical or surgical masks.Respiration is breathing, the inhalation and exhalation or air. Respiratory means “pertaining to respiration,” as in a respiratory disease like COVID-19.

social distancing

Social distancing refers to measures that reduce contact between large groups of people.Social distancing measures often entail canceling big gatherings (such as conferences, classes, church services, concerts, and sporting events), restricting mass transit and travel, and working from home. The CDC specifically recommends maintaining a distance of 6 feet (2 meters) between people.During the coronavirus outbreak, people commonly spoke or wrote of hunkering down at home as they practiced social distancing.

virus

virus is an infectious agent that replicates only within the cells of living hosts, mainly bacteria, plants, and animals.Viruses are composed of an RNA or DNA core, a protein coat, and, in more complex types, a surrounding envelope. They are ultramicroscopic, 20 to 300 nanometers (nm) in length. A nanometer is one billionth of a meter. Viruses are also metabolically inert, which is why they only can replicate themselves in cells of living hosts.COVID-19 spreads through droplets from the mouth and nose of a person with COVID-19 after coughing, sneezing, exhaling, talking, etc.

symptom

Symptom is a phenomenon that arises from and accompanies a particular disease or disorder and serves as an indication of it.Major symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, dry cough, fatigue, and difficulty breathing.

Post 12: Spaces and Exchanges - Exchanges in real Spaces and Virtual spaces: two cartoons

How far is the boundary between real and virtual spaces  becoming increasingly blurred nowadays?

Nowadays there is a mixed opinions on the subject Real Spaces and Virtual Spaces. On one hand, people do a lot of things in their home. Like teleworking, buying clothes, objects via internet, and they don't really enjoy traveling anymore. On the other hand, people who want to travel and discover by their own eyes what the world is made of. But how far is the boundary between real and virtual spaces and is it  becoming more and more blurred nowadays?
To help us respond to this key issue we have two cartons. In the first cartoon we can see a man looking at a sign saying "welcome eco tourist, why travel?, add to pollution, stay at home and visit exotic travel web sites!" Of course the man is only walking so he doesn't contribute to pollution but the sign is not only made for him but for all the people. People, who travel by car or plane.
In today's society, Internet has  a ,major place in our daily lives. Sometimes so intrusive that we loose  the sense of reality, doing everything that we could possibly imagine thanks to internet such as traveling but also read, watch a movie, meeting friends and so on. Nevertheless, if the first cartoon is defending the environment we must not forget the most of the component used to let us have/use this big invention is not environment friendly: high consuming of energy and lithium.
The second cartoon, is the reflection of what most of us are obliged to do, due to the extreme and unexpected situation worldwide. Thanks to internet, our lives go on and that allows us to continue ourlives as it should be: studying from home; working.
But. don't forget that once everything will return to normal; hopefully the sooner; it would be essential the reconnect to interact face to face.

Post 11: Spaces and Exchanges, a Mind Map

Sir, I didn't quite understand the work we had to do, so I hope that what I did, is correct. Kind regards.

We live in a society which is represented by globalization, and consumerism.

Globalization or globalisation is the process of interaction and integration among people, companies, and governments worldwild. Consumerism: is a social and economic order that encourages an acquisition of goods and services in ever-increasing amounts. What could define also those terms are "Spaces and exchanges". Today we are going to focus on them. In order to see the clear distinction between "spaces and exchanges". We will see, on what they are about, and what clearly distinguish one from an other.

First of all, there is a distinction between Spaces. On one hand there is the "Real Spaces", which is all the territories where humans live, and in which they modified the environment for them, to participate to globalization. It can be small towns, or big cities.
On the other hand there is the "Virtual spaces". Which is all the virtual infrastructures created by human in order to communicate worldwide, and to get informed. Furthermore they participate to globalization. It can be social networks or websites.
Secondly, "Exchanges" are all the activities created by humans for them to enjoy, and to work. It can be online gambling.
Moreover, they are all the flow of people, communication and merchandise. It can be international migration.
To conclude, there is Indeed a distinction between "Real Space", "Virtual Spaces", and "Exchanges". The three of them participate to globalization but in different aspects.

Otherwise, in order to distinguish better those terms, we can define a few aspects of their importance in the world. In "Real Spaces" we are going to define 10 terms.
The third world: are less developped countries and are in Asia, Africa and Latin America continents. They are low industrialized, and they don't have services. Also the education is very poor.
The first world: are the insutrialized capitalist countries of Western Europe, North America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. They are the ones which have made their industrial revolution in the 19th century, before the others countries. So we can define them as industrialized countries.
The country side: is in the land not In towns, cities, or industrial areas, that is either used for farming or left in its natural condition. There is a little bit of commerce. And or little invested in globalization.
Small towns: is used to refer to small social groups where ordinary people live. Also it refers to small places. They don't have a big impact in globalization.
Big cities: The big city is used to refer to a large city which seems attractive to someone because they think there are many exciting things to do there, and many opportunities to earn a lot of money. That being said, big cities are fairly well involved in globalization because they attract a lot of people. And also there are firms that exchange a flow of communication or merchandises with firms of others big cities.
Global cities: is also called a power city, is a city in which is a primary node in the global economic network. Those cities are highly involved in globalization because of severals aspects: firstly they communicate with all the global cities through firms, networks. Secondly, they have a big economic impact for their country. Often, their PUB, which is the money a global city earn in one year, is very impactful for the PIB, which is the money a country earn in one year.
Superpower: is a state with a dominant position characterized by its extensive ability to exert influence or project power on a global scale. So they have a big impact in globalization. They are the richest countries in the world, in which there are important flow of people, communication and merchandise.
Developed countries: are the countries which have an economic and advanced technological infrastructures in contrary to "least developed countries".
Emerging powers: are countries which are in the middle of their industrialization, or just have finished their industrialization. In a near future they will have a big impact in globalization.
The environment: In the environment there are differents types of areas. We call them ecosystems. There is the under water ecosystem, the earth ecosystem and the sky ecosystem.

In a different way, we are going to define five terms in the "Virtual Spaces".
Blogosphere: is all the works we do in a blog, and see by other people.
Websites : Are all the things we can watch in internet, it is a huge platform where films, studies, and all the informations in the world are. It works thanks to artificial intelligence controled by humans.
Social Networks: Are all the platforms in which you can communicate with the entire world. Also you can get informed of the direct news, and comment on it.
Chat rooms and forums: Are also the platforms where you can communicate with people worldwide. Where you can discuss important matters or funny and ordinary matters.
Cellular networks: is a communication where the last link is wireless. The network is distributed over land areas called "cells", each served by at least on location transceiver, but more normally, three cell sites or base transceiver stations.

Finally we are going to define five terms of exchanges.
Online gaming: is a platform where you can play with other people via videos games, you can exchange discussion and tactics. It takes part of the exchange of communication and datas.
Online gambling: It is the same as the online gaming but you gamble money, you can loose money or earn money. And it takes part of the exchange of money and the redistribution.
Ilegal drug trade: In globalization there are those places where drug trade is highly omniscient. Those places are called "grey areas". The commerce of drugs is illegal, but a lot of people do it, in differents scales: dealer, suppliers and the boss.
Text messaging: It is a message which is send by someone and received by an other. It is involved in globalization because it is a flow of communication.
International migration: is the process of moving from one country to an other. It is involved in globalization as a flow of people.

Bac blanc: Writing expresion

Lycée Français de Madrid:

Speech LVA:

Hello everyone ! I Hope you are all doing well. I’m standing today in front of you because I want to tell you something very important. Something that will change your life, my life, our life. This city will shine again ! You are now wondering what it could be. I am so pleased to tell you that today and now on you will be very proud of our city. I want to share with you something that is very important for me. You all know that I am very proud of our city. You all know that four years ago I bought the former train station. And we are all here today to inaugurate it. Together ! Because it is only together that we will make this city shine again. It is an honour for me to tell you that. I really hope that the facilities will feed your appetite of happiness ! The building has not only shops, restaurants, coffee shops but also spaces for young entrepreneurs to start their startups and become wealthy and proud men. Thanks to our mutual help we can rebuild this city from the ashes. We will be reborn again as a phoenix. And together we can fly. Our city will attract more and more people. We will no longer be a ghost town. As you now all know everyone can find the happiness he is looking for. Have you ever dreamed of being the happiest city in the USA ? To be recognized in the overall globe ? Today we can be. Today it is our day ! Today we can be !

Sujet 2:

First of all, we can talk about the facilities that a city can promote. If there are many, most of the people will feel happy without any needs, and without thinking that the grass is greener elsewhere. Of course, if you don’t have what you need people will start feeling unhappy. For example, I have travelled around the world and I can compare cities. In Santiago, in Chile there are problems with social classes. On one hand, there is a minority of people who live really above their needs and on the other, many people can't live properly and they are in need. Water for example: in Chile to buy a bottle of water costs more than one of soda and that being said many people are over weight and most of them don’t feel happy. Otherwise, In Madrid the water Is really accessible and everyone can get the basic type of need: dehydrate.
Secondly, a complete city would be a city that can promote facilities for people with every type of age. If you have the ways Madrid and Montreal are cities that have everything you need except the sea. To replace it, near Montreal you can find big lakes and beautiful landscapes same for Madrid. If you like skiing there are ski station near those cities. If you like climbing and do hiking there are montains near those cities. If you like sport, Montreal have one of the best teams of hockey on ice and Madrid have the best soccer team. They both have their food culture for example in Montreal they are proud of their poutine and iberico ham for Madrid. That being said, those cities have everything a person is supposed to want. It contributes to the happiness of the people.

Free individual post on a song talking about spaces and exchanges

           lIKE A HABO: CHARLIE WINSTON

CHARLIE WINSTON - Like A Hobo (Official Video)

Charlie Winston  is a British singer who was born the 14 September of 1978.  He belongs to the pop rock; blues anf folk movements:
I choose this song, first of all, because I liked it and also because it illustrates the notion of "Spaces and Exchanges".
The song talks about a hobo who always knew that in this world there is an opposition between good and evil. The hobo's dad use to tell him"speak always right", and the hobo says that, it is what he is made of, telling the truth. And the lies only stop him to feel free. Furthermore he says that the less he gets the better he feels. Also his mother used to tell him to keep his head on. Moreover she says that he as to be careful with people because the people only want to take something from you. He answers: "What is life if we don't make mistakes". That being said this song illustrates the notion, because personally I think it talks about the relations between men kind, how we have to be careful with the ones who want to take advantage of you. The chorus is "oh like a hobo from a broken home nothing gonna stop me" that being said he wants to travel to escape from his broken home or maybe just because he wants to discover other countries see more landscapes. So it illustrates the spaces with the traveling and exchanges with the relation between people.

Elephant, a Gus Van Sant movie 2003

What struck you most in the film ?

What struck me the most in the film is the fact that in the Unites States you can buy guns online and had them delivered. If in the states guns are prohibited, this violence would never happen and with more background checks.
Moreover;  Eric and Alex are only 16 or 17 years old when they purchased the guns. This fact makes it worse for the authorities because it means that the lack of background checks is so important that underage miners can be in possession of firearms. According to me; they are in part responsible for the death of the students.

What also impressed you ?

The quality of the filming is very interesting. For me it impresses me the most because we can actually see the psychology of the characters. For example in the scene when Alex is playing piano the filmmaker is filming Alex from behind and then from above in order to see the piano. With this information we can conclude that Alex is not only a murderer but he also as some artistic skills and sensibility. This scene can also be called the calm before the storm. So to me it makes this even more impressive because just after they have committed mass murderer. We as viewers we just want the piano moment to be forever.

Did you find anything more particularly upsetting ?

Yes, the fact that upset me is that nobody could do something to stop the killings. Almost everybody  was killed. But someone tried to stop the killing. Is called Benny, a jock who almost save the headmaster. Unfortunatly for him he as been killed like everyone else. He could have done a heroic action and that for me would have made the film, a better movie.

What did you find very disturbing ?

I like a lot the filming but sometimes it was disturbing. For example when they made close filming on   the girl with glasses supposed to represent a nerd at the beginning of the movie when she crossed pass the football players in the field. It was a little bit strange because she seems that she was lost.
Also when they filmed all the killings it was like if we were in a game everyone was getting killed and in this moment we just want to save all the people.

What was the most shocking ?

What shocked me the most is the killings and also the moment when Alex and Eric were watching a documentary about Nazis and seemed to like what they were watching. They get inspired by massacres made by the nazis and they reserve this faith for some students. I reckon that in one hand it is interesting to watch documentaries to get informed on what happened, like the massacres made by the nazis but only if you know that it is bad to do massacres. On the other hand it can be dangerous to transmit documentaries like that on tv if people like Alex and Eric are watching. So I hive mixed feelings on that: it is the right thing to do ? transmit documentaries not only historical but very violent...

What does the film suggest about the two school shooters ?

The film suggest that they were bullied at school. And the hatred they had growing up in themselves made them kill some students. We don't really know much about Eric but in the scene where they were in Alex's bedroom, Eric was playing a video game a shoot'em'up game so he as maybe a problem with violence and perhaps as an unbalanced condition. Alex is cleary deranged as if he was out of his element. He seems unconfortable in the scene where he was at the school restaurant. However the movie shows some good main characters about them. For example Alex when he played piano and the moment where they were in the bathroom kissing each other.

What's more, what does the film director make clear about the two killers ?

That they are deranged but they also have good behaviour. They were bullied and they developed a hatred. They have no mercy for the students and they kill everyone in cold blood. They were normal students. The director make clear that everyone could make the killings, because they were normal students but they had a hate against life.

What kind of approach to the school shooting itself did Gus Van Sant opt for ?

According to me it's a realistic approach. Firstly because nobody could save some people. Not like in the marvel's movies where superheroes save everyone. Then because Eric and Alex had planned the killings, they knew were to strick first. Finally the atmosphere, everyone was scared and they tried to escape from the murderers. To maintain this idea we can take the scene where Benny the jock afro American was in a classroom and he sees a girl in a state of shock, so this girl was very shocked and it gives a realistic sensation about the school shooting.

Moreover, what's the main consequence of the realistic treatment that he uses ?
What about the poetic touches he instills throughout the film ?

For me the main consequence is that it impacts on the viewers. It makes him aware of the danger of gun violence and the bulling. For example if we imagine that Eric and Alex were never bullied, maybe they would never had committed those killings. And if gun were not allowed those shootings would never occurred. So the viewer is clearly touched by both the violence and the bulling and it makes them think about how they should behave at school and in life. So he instills the viewer to be careful with his behaviour on real life.

As a conclusion, what must we admit about the way in which the killing and the killers are perceived by the film viewer ?

It is a bloodshed, both the killing and the killers are horrible, according to me the viewer is shocked and he does not believe what he is seeing, we perceived them as mass murderers. Without feelings and without mercy.

Post 7 counter power: March for our lives

March For Our Lives is an association and a big movement in which young people are fighting against the use of weappons in america in order to reduce the death rate. In the first video we can see a fiew students talking to the crowd telling their own experience when it comes to the death of their ftriends, they explain what were their names and how they want to change the laws in america.
So they tell that in front of a huge young crowd who are very attentive and stick together.
The young people who are making a speech are most of them crying. So in overall they want to change everything they want to live a life much less dangerous. One of their slogan is "the young people will win" .

The second video is about a young girl who tells in front of a group of people how to survive when a killer is about to find you and kill you. She tells tips, for example if your in a classroom you have to put yourself below your desk without making any noise.

The first picture that we can see in their website is about their objectif. They want to reduce the death rate, it tells that over 40 000 people dies every year. Furthermore It tells that to really fight the problem we have to identify the origin and to fight it.

The second picture shows that they want to regroup as many as possible people to come join them to their fight. It tells that if we dont invest ourselves nobody will.

The third picture shows a demonstartion of young people complaining for their right. They say that it is unacceptable for the people to have a price. For example in Florida each person cost one point five dollars.
MARCH 25, 2018

In this picture we can see a group of people in a demonstration. They are holding placards telling that the state and the NRA have to listen to them. They want to change everything when it comes to gun. They want guns not to be allowed. These people are mostly old and it shows that the movement march for our lives as begun to spread. Because " March for our lives" movement is principally organized by young people. At the beginning they were only young people. So we can imagine that their beliefs and fight will  spread further.
